What reviewers think

Magazine reviewers and YouTubers have tried this product—so we've summarized their strongest opinions below.

How useful are hifi reviews? We consider them useful for three things: (1) Surfacing new products you should demo in person at a dealer. (2) Learning which products reviewers unanimously praise as the best they've ever heard (this means they probably are legitimately great). (3) Identifying a product's unique attributes that satisfy your idiosyncratic needs and tastes. Beyond that, we  discount what reviewers say because they heap praise on everything—rarely being negative for fear of souring relationships with manufacturers. Further, they seldom have more than a couple products on-hand at once, relying on their imperfect memories to compare to past products.

Compared to their other products

Manufacturer's notes

The Maestro Anniversary was born in the Airtech laboratories following the experience gained with the development of the Puccini Anniversary. The basic scheme is very similar, but with an important difference: the amplification chain is completely balanced from the input to the final stage which returns to being unbalanced to connect to the speakers, which involves doubling the amplification and attenuation stages.
The entire amplifier is designed as if it were composed of three separate elements.

1- Power supply: made with a transformer for each channel of about 600VA. The rectifier bridge is made with ultrafast discrete diodes of 50A each. The filtering capacity is 16800µF per branch so the amplifier has a total of 67200µF of filter. At power on the inrush current is limited by resistors variable with temperature that after power on are excluded from the signal path.

2- Amplifier: completely dual-mono also for masses and power supplies. The digital controls for the volume chips are optoisolated. The copper tracks of the printed circuit board have a thickness double compared to the standard to guarantee the passage of the large currents in play. The layout of the printed circuit board has been studied at length to optimize the signal paths and maintain the symmetry of the stages.

3- Preamplifier: as for the power amps, the preamplifiers are also dual mono. Immediately behind the input connectors are the channel switching relays followed by a discrete component buffer to isolate the amplifier from the source. The maximum acceptable input voltage is about 6VRMS. The buffers, balanced on both inputs and outputs, drive the four volume chips for each channel in class A. The latter, as in the case of the Puccini, are simply strings of resistors without any operational amplifiers inside them...
  • Channels: 2
  • RCA Inputs: 3
  • XLR Inputs: 2
  • Input Impedance: 47KOhm
  • Maximum Input Signal: 6Vrms
  • Power at 8Ω: 150W @ 1% THD + N
  • Power at 4Ω: 300W @ 1% THD + N
  • Power at 2Ω: 500W @ 1% THD + N
  • Nominal Power Sensitivity at 8Ω: 720Rrms
  • Frequency Response: Attenuation 0dB, -3dB bandwidth 90KHz

Gryphon

Integrated amplifiers have become the essential audio component, distilling sources, amp, preamp and interconnects into a single chassis. And since 2015, connoisseurs have revered the Gryphon Diablo 300 as the finest integrated amplifier ever produced and a genuine “Object of Desire.” Unanimously praised by critics and with thousands sold, it became High End Audio’s most coveted “Ultra-Luxe” integrated.

Gryphon is one of the most respected high-end amplifier brands in the world. Its bass grip is phenomenal, thanks to an unusually high level of capacitance, which keeps everything tight and controlled, even with demanding speakers. Gryphon is also known for its bold, brutalist design—a look that a lot of people love. You’ll find their gear all over Europe and Asia, and the Diablo 333 is often considered an ‘endgame’ amp by those chasing the very best sound and aesthetics.
