What's unique about the brand

Keces Audio specializes in power conditioning and filtering through their high-quality toroidal transformers and circuits that separate digital and analog grounding. Their products use thick aluminum chassis to block EMI/RFI interference, and they're particularly known for their S3 DAC/AMP that offers balanced, uncolored sound with high resolution and transparency.

What reviewers are saying

We read all the reviews. Here's what reviewers feel most strongly about:

  • KECES emphasizes power filtering and clean power delivery across their product lines, even extending to power supplies designed for other brands' equipment.
  • Toroidal transformers are consistently used in KECES products to enhance sound quality and achieve holographic audio reproduction.
  • The brand designs for sonic neutrality and transparency, aiming to reproduce the source material without coloration.

Our favorite reviewer quotes:

  • "Keces S300+ has the widest, most holographic soundstage I've ever heard in an amplifier, and it can make NHT C3 project music and effects in ways they sound like they're coming from outside the room. The instrument separation is just top notch too, and you have every single instrument playing with actual weight and impact, substance and volume." (https://www.audiophile-heaven.com/2024/02/keces-s300-stereo-hifi-power-amplifier-speaker-utopia-sound-master.html)
  • "The treble is the part where Keces S300+ obliterated everything I heard before, regardless of the price range. It is very easy for a large amplifier to overdo the treble, either smooth it out, roll off, be bright, or have huge distortions and expect the listener to not hear those." (https://www.audiophile-heaven.com/2024/02/keces-s300-stereo-hifi-power-amplifier-speaker-utopia-sound-master.html)
  • "For most of my youth I have been a metalhead, and I heard tons of metal live, also playing it with my friends, and reproducing a real bass guitar has always been a difficult task. Most headphone and AMP setups will be dry, or hollow compared to the actual energy and depth that an actual bass guitar is supposed to have. Keces S3 is magically able to reproduce that guitar, in all its depth and nuance." (https://www.audiophile-heaven.com/2021/07/keces-s3-dac-balanced-amp-preamp-my-favorite-warm-performer.html)
  • "This KECES combo casts a wide and precise soundstage with astounding bass power that's remarkably tight and tuneful. For example, listening to Bye, Bye Blackbird by Ray Brown , John Clayton & Christian McBride confirmed that this combination is an absolute bass monster." (https://stereonet.com/reviews/keces-audio-s4-preamp-s300-power-amplifier-review)
  • "The KECES' star shone the most brightly in its ability to recreate space, whether that of the recording venue or reproducing the air around instruments and vocals. I was able to hear each sound and how it energised the acoustic space around it." (https://stereonet.com/reviews/keces-audio-s4-preamp-s300-power-amplifier-review)
  • "I think I have found my love, my drinking buddy, my metal brother, my music companion (you get me) in terms All-in-one units. KECES S3 might not offer the widest of possibilities and features, but it sounds so engaging, so effortless and kicks so hard." (https://soundnews.net/sources/dacs/keces-s3-beauty-in-black)

Ebravo Streamer Transport

  • Positioning: An entry-level digital streamer transport focused on network audio playback.
  • Description: Features a low jitter reclocker and galvanically isolated signal path that reduce digital noise, making it well-suited for small room setups and basic streaming needs. Compared to the analog-focused SSP and S4 or the power modules in the P28 and IQRP-3600, its design emphasizes connectivity and simplicity for buyers on a tighter budget seeking digital audio functionality.

SSP Sphono + Sphono Power Phono Preamplifier

  • Positioning: A specialized phono preamplifier designed for accurate analog vinyl playback.
  • Description: Features a high quality linear power supply and dual mono architecture that ensure precise RIAA/IEC equalization and low distortion. In contrast to the digital approach of the Ebravo and the multifunction stereo operation of the S4, it delivers focused phonograph signal enhancement.

S4 Stereo Preamplifier

  • Positioning: A high-end stereo preamplifier that integrates multiple functions in a refined design.
  • Description: Uses a single-ended, zero feedback circuit with Class A valve operation and an advanced R-2R network for smooth volume control, offering a wide dynamic range. When compared to the simpler SSP or the digital-centric Ebravo, its enhanced circuitry and extra features provide advanced analog and digital interfacing in one unit.

P28 28A Ultra Low Noise Linear Power Supply

  • Positioning: A specialized power supply unit engineered for low noise and stable power delivery in audiophile systems.
  • Description: Features a high quality toroidal transformer alongside Quantum Resonance technology and carefully separated output zones to minimize ripple and improve signal coherence. Unlike the signal processing roles of SSP, S4, and Ebravo or the full isolation found in the IQRP-3600, it provides a balanced solution for enhancing power integrity.

IQRP-3600 Isolated Quantum Resonance Power Conditioner

  • Positioning: An ultimate-grade power conditioner built to maximize system coherence and timing through complete isolation.
  • Description: Features a newly designed isolated power transformer with Quantum Resonance technology and in-house audio grade components to deliver exceptionally low output impedance and improved timing. Compared to the more modest P28 and to devices focused on signal preamplification like SSP, S4, and Ebravo, its fully isolated design and higher capacity provide complete power isolation.

About the brand

Puritan Audio Labs' PSM156 power conditioner eliminates transformer hum by removing DC from the power line through 52 stages of filtration, and includes an unusually flexible power cord that's easier to handle than typical stiff cords. Their GroundMaster system uses a simple copper rod grounding method to reduce electrical noise, offering a more affordable alternative to similar high-end products.

Our interview with the brand

What are two key technological innovations or strong opinions that differ you from other brands?

We do not see merit in claiming technical innovations when the science has been known and understood for the two centuries since Faraday, Ohm, Maxwell, Hertz, Henry, et al. defined the behavioral patterns of electricity and magnetism and their interactions. Even exotic-sounding "modern" dielectric materials advancements and conductor voltage treatments, etc., can be traced back well over half a century ago.

Our approach to product design is to apply clear logic, establishing the broad spectrum of aims for the product, then evaluating and evolving practices that achieve these aims.

This is accomplished firstly within the fundamental design as evolved by measured performance, but from there on, the product is shaped and evolved through massive sequences of listening tests over a very wide selection of HiFi setups of different technologies and ambition. Listening to how each design decision actually sounds as affected by the enclosure dimensions and materials, the board layout, component values and their technology, materials, etc. Establishing how every individual aspect influences the final sound of the overall design. It is a long and painstaking process from which there is no escaping if you wish to present a world-class product.

What's your approach to customer support?

We only distribute through specialist outlets with the required skills to guide and assist customers with their purchase and answer normal technical questions relating to usage of our products. In the event that the questions are more uniquely complex, we are always on hand to take over the conversation. Our products are inherently robust and designed for many decades of use. We always stand by our products, with happy users our topmost priority.

What are your favorite tracks for showcasing the strength of your products?

This is ever-changing, but to note is that for older material in a digital medium, the earliest versions before the compression of the loudness wars took hold are almost invariably the best. For 60s, 70s, and 80s music on vinyl, seek out older pressings produced with an all-analogue master tape to cutting head sequence with no digital process stages in between. If there is a digital stage employed, as with virtually all vinyl of recent decades, including "audiophile" pressings, you are better off listening to the digital version directly.

Today's choice of three would probably be:

  • Joan Armatrading – Me Myself I – AMLH64809 – Dynamics, vocal positioning in the soundstage, and overall imaging
  • Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto – Kyung-Wha Chung, LSO – Previn Decca SXL 6493 – Handling of a large orchestra at full belt and the tonal realism in the solo violin passages
  • Fleetwood Mac – Tusk K66088 – "Beautiful Child" – Vocals, soundstage, imaging, clarity, realism, and separation of the individual contributions

What other products pair best with yours?

We need to ensure that our products interface well across the broadest spectrum of components, and we have, for example, in our development room over 20 different amplifiers from Pass Labs Monoblocs, through Krell, Naim, Meridian, Cyrus, Quad, Leak, Sugden, World Audio, Enleum, as well as many speakers and source components.

GigaWatt is a hifi manufacturer specializing in power conditioning and power distribution systems that minimize noise in hifi systems.

Our interview with the brand

What's your approach to customer support?

We try to pass on our knowledge to every distributor. They should pass on to dealers, and they should pass on to customers. But not everyone remembers everything. Therefore, every customer can also contact us directly.

In addition to standard warranty care, we also take care of older devices. We treat each case individually and always try to help. Even if the damage was caused by the user's negligence. We also offer upgrades for older models. We introduce a lot of improvements - for example, the latest models in the PC series: PC-2, PC-3, PC-3SE, PC-4, have 90% new components compared to those manufactured 10 years ago. So every owner of older generation device can upgrade their model to the latest specification.
