I bought the Monitor Climate 80 speakers for myself one day, realizing that outdoor speakers can be as good as indoor bookshelves. Haven't gone back to cheap omni patio-style speakers since.
Welcome
An outdoor speaker has to survive rain, sun and frost and still sound like hifi, which means sealed drivers, treated cabinets and a design that works with no walls to reinforce the bass. These are the outdoor speakers from brands we otherwise track for their indoor ranges.

Reviews
NHT is an American speaker maker, founded in 1986, that builds its speakers around sealed cabinets instead of ports, which reviewers hear as taut, punchy bass. Its bookshelf speakers use a three-way design with a dedicated dome midrange for wider dispersion, and the C 3 also comes in a carbon fiber finish. NHT sells factory-direct. The SuperZero 2.1 suits small rooms or a surround system. The C 4 tower uses two 6.5-inch woofers for medium and large rooms, and the MS Tower adds Dolby Atmos for home theater.

What reviewers think
Product Strengths
- Very rigid, anti-resonant cabinet made of bulk mold compound (BMC) for excellent sound quality and weather resistance
- Sealed design makes it resistant to weather and pests, and tuned to provide good bass gain when mounted against a boundary
- Great sound quality, comparable to an indoor speaker, with great top energy detail and tight bass
Product Considerations
- 4-ohm impedance may not be suitable for some AV receivers, requiring a 4-ohm stable amplifier
- The bracket allows horizontal adjustments but has limited vertical adjustment flexibility
- Slight heaviness in the upper bass region may be caused by placement of the speakers close to wall surfaces
Comparisons (according to reviewers)
- Vs Axiom M3 Outdoor speakers, the O2-Arc provides a larger, more open soundstage, cleaner vocals, and better instrument separation, although the Axiom's reach lower in bass extension
Takeaway: The NHT O2-Arc outdoor speaker system offers a combination of great sound and sturdy build, making it a solid option for anyone seeking a high-performance outdoor speaker. Its weather-resistant design ensures lasting performance.

Flagship all weather loudspeaker with single/dual input switch and dual tweeter array that lets you work the speaker as a single high/performance stereo loudspeaker, or L/R speaker in a high-performance stereo pair. It’s time to get that indoor sound you love - all from an outdoor loudspeaker you can put anywhere around your home.
Polk's idea is to carry technology from its flagship speakers down into affordable ones. The American company was started in Baltimore in 1972 by Matthew Polk, Sandy Gross and George Klopfer, and it still engineers its speakers there. Its signature technology is SDA, or Stereo Dimensional Array, which addresses the crosstalk between the ears that narrows a stereo image, and the Legend L800 uses it. The Reserve series brings Legend acoustic technology to more affordable models. Owners who want sound outdoors can look at the Atrium 6.

What reviewers think
Product Strengths
- Impressive soundstage for an immersive audio experience across patios or outdoor spaces
- Some of the best outdoor sound quality in its price range
- Durable, mineral-filled polypropylene cabinet design with molded-in bracing
- Easy installation thanks to its speed-lock mounting system
- Versatile mounting options (vertically or horizontally) with the 180° speed-lock mechanism
Product Considerations
- Lower-end bass performance is dependent on the acoustics of the setup area and may sound tighter than ideal if there isn't much to bounce the bass
- Too large for some eaves gaps
Comparisons (according to reviewers)
- Vs Klipsch AW-650—performs in a similar sphere
Takeaway: The Atrium 8 is a reliable speaker that delivers solid sound to your outdoor area with versatile mounting. It is a safe choice for adding quality sound to any outdoor space.

On the patio, by the pool, or on your yacht, the KEF Ventura 6 all-weather outdoor speaker pair lets you enjoy your music with no compromises. Ventura 6 is perfect for medium-to-large sized outdoor listening areas, or for those looking for more than mid-level background music.
KEF's idea is the Uni-Q driver, which puts the tweeter in the center of the woofer so every frequency leaves from the same point and the stereo image holds together. The British company, founded in 1961 by former BBC engineer Raymond Cooke, builds almost its whole range around it. Recent models add Metamaterial Absorption Technology, a maze-like structure that absorbs the sound coming off the back of the driver, and the LS50 Wireless II and LS60 Wireless put Uni-Q in a powered cabinet with streaming built in.

Axiom Audio is a Canadian speaker maker that designs and builds its own drivers. Its designs draw on research from Canada's National Research Council, including double-blind listening tests, aimed at speakers that are demonstrably accurate. Many models come in several forms, and the M3 is offered as a bookshelf, on-wall, in-wall, in-ceiling, outdoor and computer speaker. The M60 (Floorstanding) uses triple Vortex ports. The LFR1100HP (Active Omnidirectional) uses DSP to control each driver group and suits rooms with unusual shapes. Owners choose from a wide range of finishes.

- Exhibits a 'Canadian Sound'—open, linear, and detailed
- Produces a natural and realistic midrange
- Offers clear differentiation and separation of instruments
Product Considerations
- Cymbals ended up sounding cleaner, but slightly tinny
