These terms govern your use of extremehifi.com, run by ExtremeHiFi LLC ("ExtremeHiFi", "we", "us"). By using the site you agree to them; if you do not, please do not use the site. The Privacy Policy explains how the site handles information; please read it alongside these terms.

What the site is. ExtremeHiFi is a reference about hi-fi equipment. We collect and organise information about products, brands and dealers, summarise what reviewers have written, and gather second-hand listings that other sites and dealers have published, so that you can research equipment and find somewhere to hear or buy it. We do not sell anything, hold stock, take payment or act as an agent for any seller. Every purchase you make is with the seller you make it with.

Who it is for. The site is for a general audience and is not directed at children. We may change, suspend or end any part of the site at any time, and may refuse access to anyone who breaks these terms.

Content, listings and prices

Accuracy. The site is compiled from thousands of sources that change daily. We do not promise that any price, specification, availability, review summary, dealer detail or used listing is accurate, complete or current. Confirm anything that matters with the manufacturer or seller before you rely on it.

Used listings. The used section shows listings we found on third-party websites with the seller's own title and asking price. A listing may have sold, changed price or been withdrawn since we last saw it. Prices in currencies other than the seller's are converted at a recent exchange rate for comparison only. We are not the seller, we have not inspected the item, and clicking a listing takes you to the seller's own page, where the seller's terms apply.

Price guides. Average and typical used prices are computed from asking prices we have seen, not from completed sales, and are indicative only.

Review summaries. "What reviewers think" and similar sections are our paraphrase, produced in part with automated tools, of reviews published elsewhere by named reviewers. They may not capture everything a reviewer meant, are not endorsed by the reviewer, and are not independent testing; we link to the original review where it is available. If you are the reviewer or the manufacturer and believe a summary misstates a review, email [email protected].

Dealer and brand pages. Dealer details, opening hours, brands carried and services such as trade-ins or home demonstrations come from the dealer's own website and may be out of date. Call before you drive.

Third-party sites. The site links to manufacturers, dealers, marketplaces, reviewers and Amazon. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their prices, their privacy practices or anything you buy from them.

Affiliate disclosure. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. ExtremeHiFi LLC is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program; when you follow an Amazon link from the site and buy something, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

No advice. Nothing on the site is professional, financial or safety advice. Equipment choices, electrical installation and purchases are your own responsibility.

Third-party content and independence. Used listings, dealer details, manufacturer descriptions and the reviews we summarise are content provided by others, reproduced to identify and describe products; they are not statements by ExtremeHiFi, and review summaries convey the opinions of the reviewers quoted. ExtremeHiFi is independent: it is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any manufacturer, dealer, marketplace or reviewer named on the site, and product names and logos appear only to identify the products they refer to. Nothing on the site is an offer to sell or a recommendation to buy from a particular seller.

Our content and how you may use it

Ownership. The site's text, review summaries, curated lists, price guides, the selection and arrangement of its databases, its design and its code belong to ExtremeHiFi LLC or its licensors and are protected by copyright. Product names, logos and photographs belong to their manufacturers. Reviews quoted or summarised belong to their authors and are linked to.

What you may do. You may read the site, link to any page, and quote short passages with a link back for commentary, comparison or news. You may use the data you find here to buy, sell or research equipment for yourself.

What you may not do. You may not scrape, crawl, harvest or bulk-download the site's content or data by script or any automated means, including to train machine-learning models; republish or sell our content or data, or any substantial part of it, on another site, in an app, in a dataset or in print; remove or alter our notices, or present our content as your own; interfere with the site, probe its security, or bypass measures that limit access. Search engines may index the site to send visitors to it, in line with our robots.txt, which also states which automated agents we do not permit.

Copyright complaints. If you believe content on the site infringes a copyright you hold, email [email protected] with the work you own, the page on our site, and your contact details.

Liability, law and changes

As is. The site is provided as it is and as available, free of charge, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.

Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent the law allows, ExtremeHiFi LLC and the people who work on the site are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive loss, or for loss of profit, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the site or of anything you found on it, including any purchase from a seller we linked to, and our total liability for any claim connected with the site is limited to one hundred US dollars. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to exclude. Where a jurisdiction does not allow a limit above, it applies as far as that law permits.

Your responsibility. If your misuse of the site or its content causes someone to make a claim against us, you will cover the losses that result.

Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Delaware; you consent to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and may bring a claim in its courts.

Claims. Before bringing any claim against us connected with the site, you will email [email protected] describing it and give us 30 days to resolve it. Any such claim must be brought within one year of the event that gave rise to it, or it is waived, to the extent the law allows. These limits do not apply to consumers in the EU or UK where their law says otherwise.

General. These terms are the whole agreement between you and ExtremeHiFi LLC about the site. If we do not enforce a term, we have not waived it. We may assign these terms to a successor to the site; you may not assign them. Headings are for convenience only.

Changes. The current version of these terms is posted on the site with its effective date. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stands.
