What's unique about the brand

Wattson Audio is a Swiss hifi brand that builds minimalist, CNC-machined aluminum components with proprietary streaming solutions and advanced clock circuits for precise audio performance. Their products, which support high-resolution formats up to 32-bit/384kHz and DSD256, feature LEEDH Processing for digital volume control without sound degradation, making them particularly appealing to audiophiles seeking natural, analog-like sound from digital sources.

What reviewers are saying

We read all the reviews. Here's what reviewers feel most strongly about:

  • Wattson Audio leverages expertise gained from consulting and engineering for other high-profile audio brands, resulting in meticulously designed, high-performance components.
  • They are known for compact, elegant designs, achieving sophisticated functionality in small enclosures through advanced software and efficient circuit design.
  • Wattson integrates the LEEDH Processing lossless digital volume control, enabling direct connection to power amplifiers or active loudspeakers, ensuring a short signal path and accurate sound.

Our favorite reviewer quotes:

  • "Raggae and its variants can come across like lifeless bones through some DACs, as if the funk got washed off in the conversion process but I m very happy to share that the diminutive Emerson ANALOG held onto the funk and rhythm of em>Africa Must Be Free By 1983 Dub with a stirring mix of richness, snap, and shimmer." (https://twitteringmachines.com/review-wattson-emerson-analog-streaming-dac)
  • "The dynamics of the tested player is perfect, just like its resolution. These are the elements in streaming that are the most difficult to master, and they are the ones that show whether we are dealing with mimicry (impersonating a high-end device) or truly genuine performance, like here." (https://highfidelity.pl/@main-1243&lang=en)
  • "One remarkable quality that sings out from the Madison is its ability to convert a digital signal into music that's imbued with a sense of clarity and the kind of resolution that illuminates music from within, seemingly devoid of a distracting sonic fingerprint related to the processing involved. A neat trick, indeed." (https://twitteringmachines.com/review-wattson-madison-streaming-dac)
  • "Streaming the new collaboration between jazz fusion saxophonist Dave Koz and guitarist/producer Cory Wong from Tidal, The Golden Hour, the result is spellbinding, contrasting textures tied together, tempo nailed sound big, uncompressed and dynamic." Emerson DIGITAL

  • Positioning: A compact network bridge that converts any DAC into a streaming solution.
  • Description: Delivers precise digital streaming with a dedicated Sitara processor and bit‑perfect output in a simple package. Emerson ANALOG

  • Positioning: A single‑box solution that directly connects your network to an amplifier.
  • Description: Provides integrated analog output through a carefully designed digital-to-analog conversion stage using the same proven streaming engine and low‑noise clock design. Compared to Emerson DIGITAL, it adds built‑in analog conversion, and relative to the Madison series, it offers a simpler, all‑in‑one approach for users needing direct analog connection without extra components.

Madison STREAMER

  • Positioning: A digital streamer with an integrated DSP‑driven DAC and versatile connectivity.
  • Description: Uses a robust digital engine paired with a design that uses high‑performance op-amps to deliver accurate musical details. Compared to the Emerson products, it combines both digital streaming and analog conversion in one unit, and while it is less premium than the LE model, it balances performance, connectivity, and cost.

Madison LE STREAMER

  • Positioning: A flagship digital streamer with advanced DSP circuitry and superior sound fidelity.
  • Description: Features dual independent DAC channels, an advanced clocking system, and a robust analog stage that work together to preserve musical detail. Compared to all other models in the lineup, it offers the highest upgradability, build quality, and performance.

About the brand

SOtM is a hifi brand that develops its own ARM processor boards specifically for audio, avoiding the sound quality issues common in ready-made processors used by other manufacturers. Their products, including the sMS-200 network player and sPQ-100 phono preamp, stand out for their ultra-low noise technology and rare impedance-matching features, while maintaining a focused approach by eliminating unnecessary features.

Our interview with the brand

What are two key technological innovations or strong opinions that differ you from other brands?

First, we don’t just use advanced technologies like ultra-high-speed digital hardware, precision audio clocking, or noise filtering—we develop them ourselves with a deep understanding of how each element affects sound quality. For example, our proprietary power electronics for audio circuits and custom-designed oscillators play a critical role in delivering our distinctive sound.

Second, while many brands prioritize marketing, we invest heavily in R&D. This means our products may not always be the most widely advertised, but they are built on a solid foundation of innovation and long-term vision. Rather than making minor upgrades, we aim to create fundamentally better products with each release. That’s a philosophy that consistently earns us loyal users around the world.

What's your approach to customer support?

At SOtM, we take customer support seriously. Customers are encouraged to first contact their local dealer or distributor, as they are trained to handle most issues and can provide service in the customer’s native language. However, if further assistance is needed, customers are always welcome to reach out to us directly. When a customer experiences an issue, we aim to respond quickly, diagnose the problem accurately, and offer a solution that minimizes any disruption. We go above and beyond by offering firmware updates, personalized setup help, and sometimes even remote access support to ensure the best possible experience.

What are your favorite tracks for showcasing the strength of your products?

Some of our go-to pieces include:

  • Stravinsky – The Firebird Suite (Finale): Great for dynamics and layering.
  • Copland – Fanfare for the Common Man: Perfect for testing impact, timing, and space.
  • Mahler – Symphony No. 2 "Resurrection": A true challenge for any system, with massive scale and emotional intensity.

We also enjoy film scores for their emotional engagement and wide frequency content. Ultimately, we choose tracks that are musically moving and technically revealing—regardless of genre.

What other products pair best with yours?

Since we produce everything from digital sources to amplifiers and cables—essentially all components except speakers—we typically use speakers from brands like Focal and Magico in our reference systems. All other components in the system are SOtM products, allowing us to demonstrate the full potential of our technology in a fully optimized environment.
