What's unique about the brand

Aerial Acoustics creates speakers with cabinets made from multiple layers of pressure-bonded MDF and uses custom drivers with unique materials like papyrus-blend cones for their distinctive sound. Their speakers are particularly noted for their ability to "disappear" into the soundstage, creating a holographic listening experience that's rare among dynamic speakers.

What reviewers are saying

We read all the reviews. Here's what reviewers feel most strongly about:

  • Aerial Acoustics prioritizes cabinet construction using curved, multi-layered, stressed MDF walls with extensive bracing to minimize resonances and colorations.
  • The brand consistently uses custom-designed ScanSpeak ring-dome tweeters, modified to their specific requirements, emphasizing a delicate, extended, and airy high-frequency response.
  • They emphasize the importance of proper setup and system matching to achieve optimal sound quality, rewarding listeners who invest time in these aspects with greater resolution and realism.

Our favorite reviewer quotes:

  • "The 7T flawlessly reproduced Griffin's sound as if he were standing right there in front of his rhythm section. Astoundingly, the 7T offered some of the highest levels of transparency and clarity I have ever heard." (https://hometheaterreview.com/aerial-acoustics-7t-loudspeaker-reviewed)
  • "The greatest virtue of the Aerial 6t was the way it became acoustically unobtrusive, open and alluringly natural sounding, allowing the loudspeakers to virtually disappear from the sound stage. It has a rare ability to faithfully reproduce acoustical instruments and its harmonics in their purest forms." (https://www.thesoundadvocate.com/2020/02/review-aerial-acoustics-6t-loudspeaker)
  • "The 6T loudspeakers were very special in that they not only disappeared completely like a great small two-way speaker, but based on the original recording venue, the 6T gave you the illusion that you were either right there in the venue or that the musicians were in your listening space." Aerial 7LCR

  • Positioning: A dedicated speaker for on-wall or in-wall setups.
  • Description: Features a design optimized for installation with a focused driver arrangement that suits small to medium rooms needing discrete placement. Compared to the floor-standing models like the 5T and 6T, offers a practical option for those on tighter budgets or with space constraints, though it may not match the full-range performance of the 7T and 20T V2.

Aerial 5T

  • Positioning: An entry-level floor-standing speaker designed for balanced performance.
  • Description: Uses a straightforward driver configuration that delivers clear sound and works well in small to moderate rooms. Relative to the enhanced designs of the 6T and 7T, offers a simpler setup that meets essential functionality while keeping costs lower.

Aerial 6T

  • Positioning: A mid-range floor-standing speaker that emphasizes refined midrange clarity.
  • Description: Incorporates a dedicated midrange driver that improves tonal balance and provides more detailed playback suited for mid-sized spaces. In contrast to the 5T's basic approach, offers a step up in performance while not reaching the broader dynamic range seen in the 7T or the flagship 20T V2.

Aerial 7T

  • Positioning: A full-range floor-standing speaker designed for wider dynamic coverage.
  • Description: Integrates advanced drivers that extend bass response and overall detail, making it suitable for larger rooms. Compared to the 6T's focused design, delivers a broader dynamic range and nears the performance level of the flagship 20T V2 while remaining more accessible.

Aerial 20T V2

  • Positioning: A flagship floor-standing speaker aimed at the high-end market.
  • Description: Features state-of-the-art driver technology and cabinet design that achieve a highly detailed and expansive sound stage, ideal for large rooms and critical listening. Compared to the more budget-friendly 7T, 6T, or 5T models, offers superior performance and functionality.

About the brand

Perlisten Audio's speakers feature a unique Directivity Pattern Control array that combines a beryllium tweeter with thin-ply carbon diaphragm midrange drivers to control sound dispersion and enhance imaging precision, and they're the first brand to achieve THX Dominus certification. Their speakers use proprietary thin-ply carbon diaphragm material that's 30% lighter than standard carbon fiber, with their DPC array designed to minimize floor and ceiling reflections while maintaining precise horizontal soundstage.

Our interview with the brand

What are two key technological innovations or strong opinions that differ you from other brands?

As for as tech breakthroughs, we have our patented DPC array: a tweeter inside two midranges. This improves sensitivity and dynamics through such light drivers (3g or less).

Across our entire line, you’re getting 3D soundstaging, detail, dynamics, and low distortion. Most noticeable to the listener is the way sound propagates throughout the room: we focus on a wide dispersion left and right, and slightly limit it top to bottom to minimize first reflections on the floor and ceiling. This makes the speakers easier to place.

As you move up price in our line, the extent to which we do this passive beamforming on the vertical axis descends into a lower and lower frequency.

What other products pair best with yours?

Perlistens are generally not difficult to run. Take the S7t for example: High 80s, low 90s sensitivity. That can run with anything. But, because Perlistens can play so loud, they do like a lot of power to fully show off.

Two brands we generally pair Perlisten with: On the upper end is Audioflight from Italy. On the budget friendly end, Primare. But they've been paired with so much—we haven't come across a pairing they don't work with unless it's a 3W triode tube amp due to insufficient power.
