What's unique about the brand

Grandinote is an Italian hifi brand that uses their patented "Magnetosolid" technology to combine the benefits of tube amplifiers with solid-state components, achieving a rich, natural sound without actual tubes. Their amplifiers and speakers feature distinctive design choices, including dual-mono construction requiring two power cables, and speakers built without crossovers for a more direct sound.

What reviewers are saying

We read all the reviews. Here's what reviewers feel most strongly about:

  • Grandinote's "Magnetosolid" technology uses solid-state components in circuits inspired by tube amplifier designs, aiming to capture the desirable characteristics of both.
  • The brand's amplifiers employ output transformers, a rare feature in solid-state designs, which are designed and manufactured in-house.
  • Grandinote prioritizes a Class A, no-feedback, and direct-coupled design philosophy, seeking simplicity and purity in the signal path.
  • They are dedicated to dual-mono construction with independent power supplies for each channel, ensuring minimal crosstalk and enhanced channel separation.

Our favorite reviewer quotes:

  • "Even a seasoned audio aficionado and trained ears music lovers will have a hard time to recognize the Demone non-tube inner heart, but will straightforwardly discern exuberant details, dense harmonics, lighting fast speed, natural/life-like tone, and unreserved dynamic impact." (https://www.monoandstereo.com/grandinote-demone-power-amplifiers-review)
  • "Somehow, the Shinai is just as supremely liquid as it is energetic and gripping. What's more, it's not only dynamic and expressive, it has the kind of breathing, unrestrained, and varied dynamics, as opposed to the steadily loud presentation that many transistor amplifiers have." (https://www.hifi-advice.com/blog/amplifier-reviews/integrated-amplifier-reviews/grandinote-shinai-class-a-integrated-amplifier)
  • "The Proemio preamplifier and Silva amplifier form a spectacularly natural sounding partnership that gives the listener a great experience that has real class and finesse. With the two Grandinotes you have a stunningly revealing pairing with slam, speed, energy and when needed elegance and grace." About the brand

With roots in acoustic consultancy, FinkTeam applies advanced measurement techniques and custom crossover designs, featured prominently in their Borg and KIM speakers, to achieve precise soundstage imaging and low coloration. Their standout models, such as the Borg, feature carefully tuned passive radiators for seamless bass response.

Our interview with the brand

What are two key technological innovations or strong opinions that differ you from other brands?

We are working hard to reduce the negative influence of cabinet vibrations, but without the sledgehammer method. We have our own drive unit development team and our own woodshop to make cabinets, operated by a master carpenter. We are basically an engineering team with a lot of measurement equipment, working for the big industry, making the FinkTeam speaker because we can  and because this is our passion.

What's your approach to customer support?

Customers can contact us or the distributor, so we can find the best way to sort out problems. As a small company, we don’t need complicated formal procedures.

What are your favorite tracks for showcasing the strength of your products?

That’s a difficult one, as some tracks are what we call "limit tracks“ to find the balance of the speakers. But we have a few we like:

Toto, I will remember, Beyoncé, Blackbird, Malia & Blank, Magnetic Lies, Brina Bromberg, elephants on ice skates, John Lee Hooker with Van Morrison, The Waterfront.

What other products pair best with yours?

We like electronic from Soulnote, Japan and tube electronics from CANOR in Slovakia. Internally, we also use SPL Pro equipment and MATRIX for streamers.
