What's unique about the brand

Gauder Akustik is a German hifi speaker brand that employs unique Time Delay Control technology to create spatial sound illusion and uses extremely steep 60dB/octave crossovers for precise impulse reproduction. Their flagship DARC series features stacked aluminum ribs with fiber damping for structural rigidity, while their Arcona series uses air-motion-transformer tweeters that operate like accordions to produce high-efficiency sound with minimal distortion.

What reviewers are saying

We read all the reviews. Here's what reviewers feel most strongly about:

  • Gauder Akustik employs a physics-based approach to speaker design, using mathematical models derived from Euler's formula to optimize every parameter of the system, from drivers to cabinet materials.
  • They are known for their meticulous 60dB/octave crossover designs, built with high-quality components and strategically placed to minimize interference, ensuring each driver operates within its intended frequency range with exceptional clarity.
  • The company offers a Bass Extension system with plug-in modules, allowing users to fine-tune the bass response between 30Hz and 70Hz in multiple steps, adapting the speaker to different room acoustics and personal preferences.
  • Gauder Akustik's DARC (Dynamic Aluminum Rib Construction) enclosures, built from stacked aluminum ribs, provide structural rigidity, minimize vibrations, and negate the need for extensive internal bracing, resulting in a clean and controlled sound.

Our favorite reviewer quotes:

  • "The sound of the DARC 250 Mk II is as nearly complete as any loudspeaker system I've experienced, anywhere. The level of transparency, dynamics, inner detail, spaciousness, depth of soundstage, truth to timbre, and revealing the intentions of the musicians, mastering engineer, composer, or a combination of any or all can be exciting, educational, enjoyable, and mesmerizing all at once." (https://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/gauder-akustik-darc-250-mk-ii-loudspeaker)
  • "This is psychedelic stuff turned kaleidoscopic room filling rainbows of sound thanks to the Capello 100's ability to reproduce a sound image as large as the recording allows while rendering every thwack, snap, and pop with live-like realism and impact. This, coupled with a richness and rightness in timbre made for an impressive display of you-are-there realism in reproduction." (https://twitteringmachines.com/review-gauder-akustik-capello-100-loudspeakers)
  • "From the moment I pressed play, I was treated to a wonderful soundstage that could only be described as holographic. The instruments seemed to materialize out of thin air, occupying their own space, and demanding your attention with striking immediacy." (https://boomspeaker.com/gauder-akustik-darc-250-mk-ii)

Unlike the more advanced Capello series, uses a patented XPulse diaphragm for its midrange and bass drivers, providing a balanced sound suitable for small to medium-sized rooms. This series is ideal for those with a limited budget who still desire high-quality sound without the advanced features found in higher-end models.

Capello Series

  • Positioning: A step above the Arcona, offering more advanced features and sound quality.
  • Description: Stands out with its beryllium tweeter, which offers superior impulse fidelity compared to the aluminum tweeter in the Arcona series. It also includes a drop-shaped cabinet design that reduces sound distortion, making it suitable for larger rooms and those seeking a more dynamic sound.

Elargo Series

  • Positioning: Designed for those who value both aesthetics and performance, fitting into the mid-to-high range of the lineup.
  • Description: Features a choice between beryllium and diamond tweeters, offering flexibility in sound precision and clarity. Its drop-shaped cabinet and advanced crossover technology provide a wide soundstage. Compared to the Berlina series, offers a more visually appealing design without compromising on sound quality.

Berlina Series

  • Positioning: A high-end option, known for its advanced technology and superior sound quality.
  • Description: Incorporates unique ribbed cabinet technology, which minimizes cabinet resonance for clearer sound. It offers a choice of aluminum or beryllium tweeters, with the option to upgrade to diamond tweeters, providing exceptional detail and resolution.

DARC Series

About the brand

With roots in acoustic consultancy, FinkTeam applies advanced measurement techniques and custom crossover designs, featured prominently in their Borg and KIM speakers, to achieve precise soundstage imaging and low coloration. Their standout models, such as the Borg, feature carefully tuned passive radiators for seamless bass response.

Our interview with the brand

What are two key technological innovations or strong opinions that differ you from other brands?

We are working hard to reduce the negative influence of cabinet vibrations, but without the sledgehammer method. We have our own drive unit development team and our own woodshop to make cabinets, operated by a master carpenter. We are basically an engineering team with a lot of measurement equipment, working for the big industry, making the FinkTeam speaker because we can  and because this is our passion.

What's your approach to customer support?

Customers can contact us or the distributor, so we can find the best way to sort out problems. As a small company, we don’t need complicated formal procedures.

What are your favorite tracks for showcasing the strength of your products?

That’s a difficult one, as some tracks are what we call "limit tracks“ to find the balance of the speakers. But we have a few we like:

Toto, I will remember, Beyoncé, Blackbird, Malia & Blank, Magnetic Lies, Brina Bromberg, elephants on ice skates, John Lee Hooker with Van Morrison, The Waterfront.

What other products pair best with yours?

We like electronic from Soulnote, Japan and tube electronics from CANOR in Slovakia. Internally, we also use SPL Pro equipment and MATRIX for streamers.
