What's unique about the brand

Kennerton is a hifi headphone brand that pioneered horn-loaded headphones with their Gjallarhorn GH50, which applies loudspeaker-style horn acoustics to a closed-back design for an unusually surround-like soundstage. The brand also develops in-house 80mm planar drivers and uses rare woods like ancient bog oak and stabilized Karelian birch as standard materials rather than limited editions.

What reviewers are saying

We read all the reviews. Here's what reviewers feel most strongly about:

  • The brand employs planar magnetic drivers in many of their headphones, often custom-designed, with a strong emphasis on minimizing internal resonances and maximizing diaphragm control, resulting in detailed and accurate sound reproduction.
  • Kennerton focuses on comfort and ergonomics, with features such as self-adjusting headbands and plush earpads designed for long listening sessions.

Our favorite reviewer quotes:

  • "The M12s reproduce the lower-frequency range so thick and fat you'd probably want to spread it on bread and eat it (then spend a month in the gym). You know how some headphones are credited for delivering exactly what's in the recording? The M12s approach the sound delivery in a completely different way, saturating any track with pressure and additional weight." (https://boizoff.com/language/en/m12s-magni-vali-a-comparative-review-of-kennerton-headphones)
  • "Challenge me to describe the KHD sound delivery using two words, and these words would be 'festive' and 'detailed. There are no bloated basses or sandy-rustling upper-range: the headphones give any track that gala flavor while remaining extremely detailed and (oh lord) true to the artist's idea!" (https://boizoff.com/language/en/kennerton-heartland-dynamic-review-the-other-side-of-the-same-coin)
  • "The Rognir has amazingly good stage dimensions with good depth and nearly equal width and plenty of height thrown into the mix. It is about as holographic a stage as one could ask for and places the listener in a 3D space where they are the center of the musical world and sounds can seemingly come in from all angles and directions from various distances away." (https://audiofool.reviews/2021/08/28/kennerton-rognir)
  • "Wodan have one of the nicest midrange performances I ever experienced with headphones and I am placing them here at the same level with Audeze LCD-4 ($4000) and Meze Empyrean ($3000). Wodan sounds exactly like its name suggests, it carries a powerful and full-bodied sound, it has a denser type of sound with a lot of bass and midrange presence, being very extended in the treble, even past top-octave, yet without being bright at all." About the brand

Meze Audio is a hifi brand known for their unique Rinaro Isodynamic Hybrid Array driver technology, which provides an immersive sound experience with a frequency range of 3 Hz to 112 kHz. Our interview with the brand

What are two key technological innovations or strong opinions that differ you from other brands?

Our strongest differentiator is adding the comfort element to the equation. Most headphone models are focused only on technological advancements, forgetting that comfort and ease of wear are also very important factors when choosing an object that you intend to wear for hours on end.

That is why our headphones are specifically designed to be lightweight and to combat any pressure points that can occur when wearing them for long periods of time.

What's your approach to customer support?

Our clients have the possibility to contact either the dealers/distributors or our support department directly, through our support page: https://mezeaudio.com/pages/contact.

Our headphones are designed to be fully serviceable, so every part is easy to change, in case there’s an issue. There is no glue, just nuts and bolts, so anyone can change any part of the headphone with just a screwdriver.

We are quick to solve any problem as soon as it occurs and in some instances, we do go above and beyond to help our customers. One time, I remember someone was actually wondering if our 109 PRO model's ear cups are really made of wood, so we disassembled a unit, removed the ear cups, broke them into pieces and sent him pictures with the wood pulp, to show that we do use real wood, haha!

What are your favorite tracks for showcasing the strength of your products?

My favourites would be (not necessarily in this order): Sevdaliza - Bluecid, Isaac Gracie - Silhouette of you, and lately, Sleep Token - Damocles or Caramel.

What other products pair best with yours?

Thankfully, there are a lot of good products on the market that have strong synergy with our products, and we are fortunate enough to have great partners in the industry to pair our headphones with.

We also received very good feedback from our customers testing the pairings at different trade shows, and they prefer the following: Chord Dave, Feliks Envy, Ferrum Wandla + Oor + Hypsos combo, the DCS Lina stack, Auris Headonia, Linear Tube Audio Aero + Velo combo, and many many more, these is just top of the mind.

About the brand

HEDD Audio, founded by physicist Klaus Heinz, pioneered Air Motion Transformer (AMT) technology. Typically reserved for tweeters only due to difficulty achieving low frequency output, HEDD was the first to achieve full 20hz-20khz in a headphone design with the HEDDphone, later refined and improved with the HEDDphone 2 and 2 GT. The brand hand-builds their products in Berlin, with their headphones particularly noted for exceptional detail retrieval and natural soundstage, making them suitable for both professional and audiophile use.
