What's unique about the brand

Audio Physic is a hifi speaker brand known for its exceptional 3D imaging and wide soundstage in medium to small rooms, with unique features like ceramic foam bracing and Active Cone Damping technology to reduce unwanted vibrations. Their exclusive models, like the ten-pair-limited Medeos with its patent-pending midrange driver and the Cardeas 30 LJE with only 30 pairs made, showcase their commitment to limited production runs and customization options.

What reviewers are saying

We read all the reviews. Here's what reviewers feel most strongly about:

  • Audio Physic designs incorporate unique driver technologies, such as the HHCM (Hyper-Holographic Cone Midrange) and HHCT (Hyper-Holographic Cone Tweeter), which often eliminate the traditional spider, resulting in claimed improvements in clarity and reduced coloration.
  • The brand is known for its multi-layered cabinet construction, often incorporating glass panels, ceramic foam, and strategically placed bracing to minimize cabinet resonances and achieve a quieter enclosure.
  • Audio Physic speakers often feature a tilted-back cabinet design, meant to time-align the drivers and improve imaging.
  • Many models utilize side-firing or internally mounted woofers coupled with specific porting techniques to achieve extended bass response while minimizing room interaction and maintaining a slim cabinet profile.

Our favorite reviewer quotes:

  • "Many speakers favor the piano's right hand over the left. The Avantera isn't merely craftily tuned, its low strings are as dynamically engaging as the high ones." (https://6moons.com/audioreviews/audiophysic/3.html)
  • "But what really knocked me out was the amazing reproduction depth, the profound gravity of the bass and the perfectly graduated, superbly detached stage projected by the speakers – that hadn't even been properly positioned yet! I can't pretend that the incredible Cardeas took me completely by surprise." (https://twitteringmachines.com/audio-physic-cardeas-its-all-about-the-music)
  • "From the first notes, I was amazed by the incredible clarity and lack of coloration. However, after just three bars, the Avantera pointed out a small error in the cut that I hadn't noticed during mastering." (https://www.fidelity-magazine.com/audio-physic-avantera)
  • "First, let me start with the Avantera's transparency and lack of any coloration being added to the signal being sent to it. I'm very accustomed to this type of purity and clarity because I have had planar speakers as my references for over 20 years, but to have this coming from a seven-driver box enclosure speaker is quite amazing." (https://hometheaterreview.com/audio-physic-avantera-floorstanding-loudspeaker-reviewed)
  • "The refreshing lightness of texture was brought home so vividly, the soloists so clear and uncoloured, the pensive cello causing me to tingle with excitement. The level of midrange and treble detail conveyed is just incredible and not expected from a speaker of this size and price." Lineup comparison

We think it's helpful to understand how their products compare. To learn more about each, scroll to the section above to click through to individual product pages.

Classic 15-2:

  • Positioning: Entry-level series designed for affordability and basic functionality.
  • Description: Offers a straightforward design focused on reliable performance with standard components suited for small rooms and simple setups. Compared to other models, it is less complex and lacks the advanced processing and connectivity features found in the mid-tier and premium units.

Classic 35:

  • Positioning: A step-up product aimed at enhanced performance for small to mid-size rooms.
  • Description: Delivers improved circuitry and refined design elements that boost sound clarity over the entry-level version. Compared to the more advanced models, it balances cost and performance without incorporating the high-end processing found in the premium series.

Codex:

  • Positioning: A mid-tier model offering a balanced mix of performance and reliability.
  • Description: Integrates better components and refined sonic accuracy to meet moderate technical and room-size demands. Compared with the Classic series, it provides enhanced features while still being less complex than the premium Cardeas and flagship Medeos models.

Cardeas:

  • Positioning: A premium model focusing on refined performance and expanded functionality.
  • Description: Uses sophisticated processing techniques and higher quality components that improve overall audio detail beyond the Codex and Classic lines. Relative to the flagship Medeos, its design and feature set are advanced yet not as cutting edge.

Medeos:

  • Positioning: A flagship high-end product offering advanced performance and state-of-the-art features.
  • Description: Features top-shelf circuitry and innovative processing technology that deliver superior sound quality and connectivity options suited for large spaces and high technical demands. Compared to all other models in the lineup, it provides the most advanced engineering and premium functionality.

About the brand

PIEGA is a hifi speaker brand that uses aluminum cabinets and Air Motion Transformer tweeters to achieve better sound quality than traditional speaker designs. The brand is known for making compact speakers that perform like much larger ones, with their TMicro 40 model reaching deep bass notes down to 50Hz despite its small size.

Our interview with the brand

What are two key technological innovations or strong opinions that differ you from other brands?

Our ribbon tweeters, especially the coaxial versions used in our Coax and Master Line models, deliver exceptional resolution and spatial imaging. What’s particularly noteworthy is that we have been developing these tweeters entirely in-house for over 40 years – and we still manufacture them by hand at our facility in Horgen, Switzerland. The quality is, in our view, outstanding – not only acoustically, but also in terms of technical precision and minimal unit-to-unit variance.

Our aluminum enclosures, combined with internal damping and sandwich construction, ensure distortion-free performance – even at high volumes – and are a unique feature both acoustically and visually.

What's your approach to customer support?

We generally recommend that customers first reach out to their dealer or national distributor for any questions or issues. These partners are trained and authorized to assist quickly and effectively. In more complex cases – or when customers contact us directly – we are, of course, committed to providing personal and dedicated support.

Additionally, we regularly invite customers to visit our headquarters in Horgen. During these visits – which include a tour of our production and personal consultation – very close relationships have developed, and in some cases, even real friendships have formed. We take pride in maintaining close and reliable contact, even after the purchase.

What are your favorite tracks for showcasing the strength of your products?

  • “Queen Mary” – Francine Thirteen: For dynamics and tight bass, excellent at high volume.
  • “Liberty” – Anette Askvik: For atmospheric depth and spaciousness.
  • “The Headless Horseman” – Bobby Bass: Great for vocals and evaluating seamless transitions between multi-way drivers.

What other products pair best with yours?

We experience excellent synergy with HiFi Rose electronics – both sonically and aesthetically. Setups with T+A or Cambridge Audio also pair beautifully with our speakers. And of course, there are no limits at the high end: just recently, I heard a large Burmester and McIntosh system driving our Coax 811 at a dealer – the result was absolutely stunning.
