What's unique about the brand

Neat Acoustics is known for creating compact yet powerful speakers, with their Petite Classic model transitioning from a highly successful limited edition to a permanent offering. The brand's product lineup spans multiple series including IOTA, STRATA, Motive, Momentum, Ultimatum, and Classic, with a history of producing limited edition models that become sought-after collectibles.

What reviewers are saying

We read all the reviews. Here's what reviewers feel most strongly about:

  • Neat Acoustics' designs are heavily influenced by the founder's (Bob Surgeoner) musical background, including his personal preferences and what sounds right to him, resulting in a unique voicing.
  • Their speakers often feature ribbon tweeters, known for their smooth and detailed high-frequency response, setting them apart from traditional dome tweeters.
  • Many Neat Acoustics models incorporate isobaric bass loading, using two drivers to achieve deeper and more controlled bass from a smaller cabinet.
  • While known for sonic performance, Neat speakers prioritize musical engagement and emotional connection over purely analytical or technically perfect sound reproduction, often leading to a more enjoyable listening experience in real-world settings.

Our favorite reviewer quotes:

  • "They are magical when it comes to space; the sound literally floats above, behind and to the outside of the speakers. Their placement of instruments and voices is more lifelike than for most speakers in that they are all part of the whole that floats above the speakers." (https://theaudiobeatnik.com/neat-acoustics-iota-alpha-speaker-review-incredible-lifelike-sound)
  • "The loudspeaker is one of the best I've heard going into real-world rooms owned by people who don't have a six-figure disposable income and a listening room that could hold a medium-sized orchestra. It's a tidy, open, airy, and most of all musically-entertaining sound, and one that is possessed of incredible levels of bass for a loudspeaker of its size." (https://hifiplus.com/articles/neat-acoustics-ultimatum-xl6-loudspeaker)
  • "I have to say, I love what the NEAT Acoustics Iota Alpha does, in part for its ability to get so much sound for the size and the buck, but mostly for its ability to challenge my opinion of what small speakers can do. There is a 'you have got to be kidding me!' sense of shock that everyone gets when hearing that much sound coming out of that small a box." (https://theaudiobeatnik.com/neat-acoustics-iota-alpha-speaker-review-incredible-lifelike-sound)
  • "When you listen these speakers, you discover you could listen to music on them all day long. It is shocking how they play a big pipe organ or orchestra by floating them in your room with real scale and space." (https://theaudiobeatnik.com/neat-acoustics-iota-xplorer-loudspeaker-review)

About the brand

PIEGA is a hifi speaker brand that uses aluminum cabinets and Air Motion Transformer tweeters to achieve better sound quality than traditional speaker designs. The brand is known for making compact speakers that perform like much larger ones, with their TMicro 40 model reaching deep bass notes down to 50Hz despite its small size.

Our interview with the brand

What are two key technological innovations or strong opinions that differ you from other brands?

Our ribbon tweeters, especially the coaxial versions used in our Coax and Master Line models, deliver exceptional resolution and spatial imaging. What’s particularly noteworthy is that we have been developing these tweeters entirely in-house for over 40 years – and we still manufacture them by hand at our facility in Horgen, Switzerland. The quality is, in our view, outstanding – not only acoustically, but also in terms of technical precision and minimal unit-to-unit variance.

Our aluminum enclosures, combined with internal damping and sandwich construction, ensure distortion-free performance – even at high volumes – and are a unique feature both acoustically and visually.

What's your approach to customer support?

We generally recommend that customers first reach out to their dealer or national distributor for any questions or issues. These partners are trained and authorized to assist quickly and effectively. In more complex cases – or when customers contact us directly – we are, of course, committed to providing personal and dedicated support.

Additionally, we regularly invite customers to visit our headquarters in Horgen. During these visits – which include a tour of our production and personal consultation – very close relationships have developed, and in some cases, even real friendships have formed. We take pride in maintaining close and reliable contact, even after the purchase.

What are your favorite tracks for showcasing the strength of your products?

  • “Queen Mary” – Francine Thirteen: For dynamics and tight bass, excellent at high volume.
  • “Liberty” – Anette Askvik: For atmospheric depth and spaciousness.
  • “The Headless Horseman” – Bobby Bass: Great for vocals and evaluating seamless transitions between multi-way drivers.

What other products pair best with yours?

We experience excellent synergy with HiFi Rose electronics – both sonically and aesthetically. Setups with T+A or Cambridge Audio also pair beautifully with our speakers. And of course, there are no limits at the high end: just recently, I heard a large Burmester and McIntosh system driving our Coax 811 at a dealer – the result was absolutely stunning.
