What's unique about the brand

Sennheiser pioneered the world's first open-back headphones with the HD 414 in 1968, which became the bestselling full-size headphone of all time, and later developed the HD 25, evolving from 1980s broadcast use to become the industry standard in DJ booths worldwide. The brand is known for unique engineering approaches, such as integrating high-voltage amplifiers directly into earcups with Carrara marble chassis in the HE 1, developing proprietary ring-radiator transducers and absorber technology to eliminate resonances, and creating the long-running MD 421 microphone that has remained in production since 1960.

What reviewers are saying

We read all the reviews. Here's what reviewers feel most strongly about:

Our favorite reviewer quotes:

  • "Speaking of which… I'm going to have to actively try and stop myself from gushing hyperbolically in this review, but I can't think of a headphone in recent memory that I've enjoyed this much when it comes to its midrange presentation." (https://headphones.com/blogs/reviews/sennheiser-hd-550-review-a-legitimate-gamechanger)
  • "Suffice it to say that the IE900 just might have the most uncompressed, dynamic bass I've heard of an IEM. Other usual suspects of bass quality - from texture, decay, and to slam - are unabashedly worthy of world-class status too." (https://headphones.com/blogs/reviews/sennheiser-ie900-review?srsltid=AfmBOorvDWdZQ621nGlUXibw5GhIuaPkkNMqjBQa5zpH5lp0NItBb6XZ)
  • "Overall, I was blown away and impressed with what the Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar Plus and AMBEO Sub could do. It was very closely comparable to my 11.1.4 system in the main living area and performed outstandingly well in the master bedroom."
