  • iFi employs its own custom technologies and features, such as XBass and XSpace, to enhance the listening experience, tailoring sound to individual preferences.
  • The brand is known for its commitment to high-resolution audio, supporting various formats, including DSD, MQA, and lossless Bluetooth codecs.

Our favorite reviewer quotes:

  • "To be frank, I was rather gobsmacked when I first hooked it up. And the sensation wouldn't let up throughout the whole testing process." (https://www.headphonesty.com/2024/03/idsd-diablo-2-review)
  • "The Kensei offers an incredibly immersive and captivating listening experience, blending an analog-like and organic tone with exceptional technical prowess. Even without the K2HD mode activated, the Kensei produces a lifelike and authentic sound, free from any noticeable digital harshness." (https://ichos-reviews.com/ifi-go-bar-kensei-review)
  • "Everything I listened to, from rock and metal to folk and classical, presented wonderfully with this portable DAC/amp. The dynamic range is excellent and the timbre realistic and natural, giving the sound a holographic quality with excellent depth and width." (https://www.mmorpg.com/hardware-reviews/golden-ears-ifi-xdsd-gryphon-portable-balanced-dacamp-review-2000124022)
  • "The xCAN is the best portable amplifier I have heard to date which at last count was 30+ models including most of the rest of the iFi lineup. I already had the xDSD on my products of the year list for 2018 and now I have to admit the xCAN betters it." (https://audiofool.reviews/2018/12/28/ifi-xcan)

ZEN DAC 3

  • Positioning: The entry-level desktop DAC in the iFi lineup.
  • Description: Offers high-resolution audio support up to PCM 768kHz and DSD512, making it a great choice for those seeking high-quality sound on a budget. Features a Burr-Brown DAC chip for True Native playback, which is a step up from the ZEN Blue 3's focus on Bluetooth capabilities. Its balanced outputs and USB-C connectivity provide versatility for both headphones and active speakers, unlike the ZEN One Signature which lacks a headphone amp.

ZEN Blue 3

  • Positioning: A Bluetooth DAC in the iFi lineup.
  • Description: Notable for being the first Bluetooth DAC to support aptX Lossless, offering CD-quality audio wirelessly. Excels in wireless connectivity with Bluetooth 5.4, unlike the ZEN DAC 3 which focuses on wired connections. Its ability to function as a wired DAC with USB and S/PDIF inputs adds flexibility.

GO bar

  • Positioning: A portable DAC/amp designed for on-the-go use.
  • Description: Compact yet powerful, offering up to 475mW output, which is significantly more than typical portable devices. Features iEMatch and Turbo modes for optimal headphone performance, setting it apart from the ZEN DAC 3's desktop focus. Its portability and balanced circuitry make it ideal for users who need high-quality audio in a small package, unlike the iDSD Diablo 2 which is more powerful but less portable.

ZEN One Signature

  • Positioning: A mid-range DAC in the iFi lineup, designed as a home audio hub.
  • Description: Combines high-definition Bluetooth with multiple digital inputs, making it a versatile choice for home setups. Supports a wide range of audio formats, including MQA and DSD256, similar to the ZEN DAC 3 but with added Bluetooth capabilities. Its focus on connectivity and premium components makes it suitable for users who want a central audio hub, unlike the GO bar which is designed for portability.

iDSD Diablo 2

  • Positioning: The flagship portable DAC/amp in the iFi lineup.
  • Description: Offers groundbreaking power with up to 5,180mW output, making it ideal for driving demanding headphones. Features advanced technologies like xMEMS compatibility and aptX Lossless Bluetooth, providing superior audio quality compared to the GO bar's more compact design. Its high power and versatility make it suitable for audiophiles who need a portable solution without compromising on performance.

About the brand

Aune Audio is a hifi brand known for its unique approach to DAC design, using custom-built clock generators and dual DAC chips to achieve exceptional transparency and natural sound. Our interview with the brand

What are two key technological innovations or strong opinions that differ you from other brands?

DACs are relatively straightforward in concept, but creating a truly outstanding one takes a lot of effort. We do have some unique design philosophies for our DAC products. In the past, our DAC lineup has included many technical highlights—for example, our proprietary PLL (Phase-Locked Loop) technology. This ensures adaptive compatibility across different input sample rates while maintaining synchronization between the DAC and clock signal.Another key feature is that our DACs are designed with independent clock input interfaces from the outset. They can accept external clock signals and even allow seamless switching between internal and external clock sources without interrupting operation. While external clock input is typically reserved for high-end DACs, we insist on supporting it even in entry-level models. Our emphasis on clock signal handling is a major differentiator from our competitors. So if we were to expand on this topic, we’d certainly mention more than just two technical innovations.

What's your approach to customer support?

Generally speaking, our after-sales service policy recommends that users contact the dealer from whom they purchased the product. This is the most direct and convenient way to resolve issues—whether it’s for repairs or replacement due to product faults—allowing for the quickest resolution. This same policy applies to our official online stores. In most cases, we don’t recommend customers contact us directly, because it’s difficult to accurately demonstrate and identify issues without in-person evaluation. Direct communication with us may also lead to unnecessary delays or extra logistics costs and taxes. Working through the dealer allows for more efficient repairs or exchanges. That said, if users have questions about product usage, we’re absolutely happy for them to contact us directly for timely answers and technical support.

What are your favorite tracks for showcasing the strength of your products?

What other products pair best with yours?

This is definitely a sensitive question, but we’re not surprised that it comes up. We respect how different brand designers interpret music reproduction, and we fully recognize that mixing and matching different brands is one of the biggest joys for audio enthusiasts. In fact, we often do this ourselves.

Aside from it being fun, it also helps us discover potential compatibility issues with our own products. For example, I think Violectric headphone amps pair quite well with our DACs. But we don’t recommend that people simply copy our choices. To achieve the sound we prefer, we often modify other brands’ gear to best match our products. Through this process, we also gain completely new design inspiration.

Just like others discover their own pairing experiences, we believe there’s no such thing as the “correct” sound—only the sound that aligns with your own preferences.
