What's unique about the brand

Copland is a hifi brand known for its hybrid amplifier designs that combine tube and solid-state technologies, with their signature approach being the pairing of valve preamps with MOSFET power amps as seen in their CSA100 model. Their amplifiers deliver a controlled sound that maintains the precision of transistor designs while adding warmth from tube integration, all housed in minimalist designs that focus on understated aesthetics.

What reviewers are saying

We read all the reviews. Here's what reviewers feel most strongly about:

  • Copland's hybrid designs uniquely blend tube preamplification with solid-state power amplification, aiming for a balance of warmth and detail.
  • They offer auto-biasing in their tube amplifiers, which simplifies tube replacement and ensures consistent performance.

Our favorite reviewer quotes:

  • "I love the way that the Copland sounds so clear, open and dynamically free. There's no sense of over-damped electronics here." (https://hifiplus.com/articles/copland-csa-150-hybrid-integrated-amplifier)
  • "It takes a few more minutes before the sound is fully balanced, but then you are presented with an enormously large, rich and, not least, dynamic soundstage. It delivers bass notes with an authority normally associated with much more powerful transistor amplifiers." (https://www.lbtechreviews.com/test/hifi/copland-cta407)
  • "As I really turned up the volume, some pleasant tube compression emerged, accompanied by glowing orange LEDs, while the captivating melody filled every corner of the room." (https://stereonet.com/reviews/copland-cta407-integrated-tube-amplifier-review)
  • "It's a tidy, dexterous sound, coupling the grace and finesse of a good valve amp with the drive and slam of a well-engineered solid-state device. What it does so well is communicate that 'holographic' soundstaging that draws so many to good audio." (https://hifiplus.com/articles/copland-csa-100-integrated-amplifier)

CSA70

  • Positioning: A solid-state integrated amplifier for dedicated music lovers seeking dependable performance at an accessible price.
  • Description: Offers a reliable 70W-per-channel output with a simple design featuring multiple digital and analog inputs and a built-in phono preamplifier that appeals to users with modest room and budget needs. Compared to the CSA100 and CTA407, it skips the tube-based line stage and advanced bias features, making it a straightforward choice for those with basic functionality requirements.

CSA100

  • Positioning: A hybrid integrated amplifier that blends tube-based voltage amplification with transistor power for balanced sound.
  • Description: Combines a tube line stage that adds warmth and dynamic headroom with a MOS-FET output stage delivering 100W per channel, offering a middle ground between simple solid-state and fully tube designs. Compared to the CSA70 and CSA150, its design provides richer musical character and enhanced digital connectivity.

CTA407

  • Positioning: An integrated tube amplifier focused on delivering authentic tube sound with precise automatic biasing and diagnostics.
  • Description: Features an auto-adjusting tube bias system and diagnostic LED indicators that ensure optimal performance across various tube types, offering a unique tube character that is hard to replicate in solid-state designs. Compared to the CSA series, its specialized tube circuitry and high-class A/AB operation position it as a choice for users prioritizing sonic warmth and advanced tube technology.

CSA150

  • Positioning: A premium integrated amplifier with high power and extensive digital connectivity aimed at top-tier performance.
  • Description: Incorporates a robust toroidal transformer and separate regulated power supply for the amplifier driver stages, delivering 150W per channel and a diverse range of digital inputs including multiple S/PDIF, USB, and Bluetooth options. Compared to the CSA70, CSA100, and CTA407, its advanced regulation, connectivity, and build quality make it suited for users with flexible use cases and demands for comprehensive functionality.

About the brand

Fezz Audio distinguishes itself by being the first to implement toroidal output transformers in single-ended tube amplifiers, a design choice that enhances efficiency and reduces noise. Their Evolution series, developed in collaboration with the KABO & PYDO design studio, has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the Red Dot Design Award.

Our interview with the brand

What are two key technological innovations or strong opinions that differ you from other brands?

One of the key technological innovations that differs Fezz from other manufacturers is the usage of patented toroidal output transformers in our tube amplifiers. While most tube amplifier manufacturers rely on traditional EI-core transformers, we design and build our amplifiers around custom toroidal output transformers. This results in lower magnetic leakage, much improved bandwidth, and more precise bass control—qualities that are not easy to achieve with conventional designs.

Secondly, we strongly believe in balancing modern engineering with classic tube sound. Our amplifiers are meticulously tuned to retain the musical warmth and dynamics that tube enthusiasts love, while also delivering the clarity, stability, and efficiency demanded by today's high-end audio systems.

What's your approach to customer support?

We handle customer support through a dedicated network of authorized dealers and distributors, who are the first point of contact for our customers. However, we also encourage direct contact with us if a customer needs additional help or feels their issue requires further attention. Our team is always ready to support end users with technical advice, service coordination, or general questions.

What are your favorite tracks for showcasing the strength of your products?

Great question! Music is the key to everything we do.

Melody Gardot – Worrisome Heart

Stacey Kent & Jim Tomlinson – So Nice

John Lee Hooker – Susie (feat. Johnny Winter)

Katie Melua – Piece by Piece

These tracks aren't just technical tests—they're emotionally engaging, which is exactly what we want our amplifiers to bring out in every listening session.

What other products pair best with yours?

We especially love pairing our amplifiers with Klipsch, and next is the Polish brand Pylon.
