The first time the reviewer behind RealAudioReviews put on the Canpur CP622B, he listened for four to six hours straight and "could not put them down." He ended up calling it his best imaging earphone, ahead of his old favorite from Sony. Much of the credit goes to a part most earphones don't have. Besides its usual drivers, which move air down the ear canal, the CP622B carries bone conduction drivers, which send vibration through the bones of the head straight to the inner ear. Twister6 notes that they need close contact with the ear, which is why the inner side of the shell is sculpted and slightly bulbous. He hears the result as space, with imaging he calls "nearly holographic." Underneath, the tuning is close to neutral with a bit of warmth in the mids. Canpur suits listeners who want a calm, detailed sound with a large three-dimensional stage.

Start with the CP622B, the flagship and the model that put Canpur on the map. Bad Guy Good Audio liked it enough to pay for both the universal and a custom-fit version. If it is more than you want to spend, the CP74E is the step below. It trades the bone conduction drivers for extra electrostatic tweeters, and Bad Guy Good Audio calls it "a much more polite and traditional type tuning." Twister6 found it brings the sound closer to the listener with a quicker punch in the bass, and Paul Kyunghee of About Audio says its vocals shine "a tad better with female vocals." Neither needs a big amplifier. Guy Lerner of The Headphone List calls the CP74E "very easy to drive," and Twister6 needed only a few extra volume clicks for the CP622B from a portable player. Take time over the fit on the larger CP622B. Twister6 got a better fit by rotating the shells slightly forward, and SpinFit W1 and Symbio W tips worked best for him.

Canpur began with a drummer. Hans Witjes played in bands professionally from the 1980s, with nearly 30 years of live shows behind him, and Canpur's own site describes him as "a white-haired old man from the Netherlands." He founded the company in the Netherlands in the spring of 2019 and named it after the words can and pure, which Canpur says stand for "restoration, purity, and auditory pleasure." He tunes each model with old friends who work as producers and mix engineers. Canpur says its universal shells are shaped from ear canal data from thousands of people, gathered from custom earphones and hearing aids. Twister6 first heard of Canpur in 2023, when its full catalog appeared at the dealer Musicteck just before CanJam SoCal, and he wrote that he had not seen dual bone conduction drivers used by anyone else before the CP622B. Paul Kyunghee credits the CP622B with making Canpur's reputation "explode globally." Canpur also offers the Stage Series, built mainly as custom-fit monitors for working musicians and sound engineers.
