What's unique about the brand

Monitor Audio is an independently owned hifi brand that has earned multiple Editors Choice awards for their Silver Series speakers, which feature proprietary driver designs. Their speakers are distinguished by unique technologies like the MPD tweeter and C-CAM drivers, which provide exceptional clarity while resisting distortion and listener fatigue.

What reviewers are saying

We read all the reviews. Here's what reviewers feel most strongly about:

  • Monitor Audio's C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium) drivers, specifically their "Gold Dome" tweeters and mid-bass drivers, are consistently praised for their unique combination of lightness, rigidity, and damping, resulting in clear, detailed, and dynamic sound reproduction.
  • The "Rigid Surface Technology" (RST and RST II), employed on Monitor Audio's driver cones, enhances their stiffness and reduces distortion, leading to a fuller, more textured, and controlled sound, especially in the bass frequencies.
  • They've developed a signature sound that balances detail, clarity, and a lively, energetic presentation while being smooth and non-fatiguing, making their speakers suitable for long listening sessions across various music genres.

Our favorite reviewer quotes:

  • "The Hyphn's super-detailed, ultra-low distortion sound will soon have you running the gamut of your music collection and playlists. Its glass-clear midband seems to make everything you listen to sound fresh, shiny and new – even recordings that I've heard seemingly a million times were fascinating to behold." (https://stereonet.com/reviews/monitor-audio-hyphn-loudspeakers-review)
  • "Low-frequency extension and presence is considerable, and the weightily powerful bass the Hyphn produces is loaded with detail both broad and fine. The rapidity of which they're capable is profoundly impressive – the sort of nosebleed-inducing low end of the Squarepusher tune, for example, might seem designed to befuddle a loudspeaker, but the Monitor Audio simply show it who's boss." (https://hifiplus.com/articles/monitor-audio-hyphn-floorstanding-loudspeaker)
  • "And in the midrange, the Hyphn communicate to an almost indecent degree – they are as eloquent and revealing as it gets when given a vocalist to deal with, and what they don't identify and reveal about timbre, technique and straight-up attitude in a voice isn't worth knowing." (https://hifiplus.com/articles/monitor-audio-hyphn-floorstanding-loudspeaker)
  • "Man, this thing can render immersive detail and musically-integrated instrument separation… And it does those things with a superb capturing of 'air' and finer harmonic content while also being vividly upfront…" (https://www.soundstageaustralia.com/index.php/reviews/923-monitor-audio-gold-100-6g-loudspeakers)
  • "Right across the soundstage there's an astonishing amount of detail, unearthing sonic minutiae you might not have noticed before – even with movies you know like the back of your hand. I've seen The Dark Knight's monumental Batpod chase scene countless times, but this system suddenly had me noticing subtle noises and nuances in the surround design that slip under the radar on lesser compact systems." What are two key technological innovations or strong opinions that differ you from other brands?

We’re an English company that’s been around since the 80s. We were bought back by our own employees—so the company really is one big family now.

We’re often told we’re underappreciated—the bang for the buck is among the very best in the whole industry. Often we’ll have the best speakers anyone's heard before.

300 series is our value sweet spot. It performs so well for the price point. We’re also well-known for our great bookshelf speakers, which we started the company with.

Our speakers are very easy to run with a wide range of amplification. They feature lots of detail and dynamics, but they’re also very forgiving—sounds beautiful even with poorly recorded music.

We’re not out to create the brand new and crazy. Yes, we have our own drivers and cabinets, but our focus is to perfectly nail what we do at each price point.
