Brands They Sell
Why buy from a dealer?
We strongly recommend listening to equipment at a dealer before buying hifi gear. Beyond the benefit of building a relationship with a local expert, plus the ability to trade in old gear, there's also the reality that new hifi enthusiasts often discover that they have a particular sonic preference, and that this preference isn't obvious until they've heard different-sounding systems back-to-back.
For example, some audiophiles seek warmth, plus strong bass, and holographic imaging. Others want maximum detail and instrument separation. These are different sonic profiles.
Further, if you're buying online and relying on reviews, reviews aren't necessarily trustworthy. Everything is praised as "the best" and criticism is often sparse. You should listen in person to uncover what's real.
If there's no suitable dealer near you and you're buying online sight-unseen, you can of course end up with a fantastic system regardless. But prioritize buying from sellers with great return policies so you can try before you buy.
What about shipping costs?
If you're buying from a dealer outside your region, Craters & Freighters and Navis are couriers who can freight ship heavy, expensive goods. (We have no affiliation.)
