What's unique about the brand
What reviewers are saying
We read all the reviews. Here's what reviewers feel most strongly about:
- Meridian leverages its decades of DSP expertise, including proprietary algorithms like Enhanced Bass Alignment (EBA) and granular software control, to tailor the sound of their speakers to specific room placements and user preferences.
- The brand offers its customers a unique personalization program where speakers can be finished in any color, enabling seamless integration into any decor.
- They designed and implemented the SpeakerLink connection, a proprietary system that transmits both digital audio and control signals over Ethernet cables, simplifying setup and reducing cable clutter.
Our favorite reviewer quotes:
- "The DSP9s are nothing short of sensational and, by a significant margin, the best sounding loudspeaker I have reviewed in the last 30 years – including several models that are twice their asking price and passive! They are unbelievably powerful and dynamic, with the most amazing imaging and natural space in the soundstage." (https://www.meridian-audio.com/media/news-events/dsp9-review-essential-install)
- "The 857 provided excellent timbre and vivid realism. The presentation was very open and transparent, you could easily follow each voice and guitar, all were in their own space but musically formed a complete beautiful sound scape." - "This terrific recording lets you close your eyes and clearly picture the musicians spread out before you, the reverberation of the acoustic space of the church where the recording was made beautifully preserved and wonderfully recreated by the Meridians. Don't think that the 6-inch drivers can't deliver serious, tangible low end, as they produce a ton of rich bass with resolution and detail." - "From classical to hip-hop and metal to dance, they nail the detail, rhythm and nuance of the material with smile inducing accuracy and toe-tapping tempo 100% of the time. Even early AC/DC recordings, which have all the dynamic range of a pomegranate, had me Angus-hopping the air-guitar around the room." DSP5200
- Positioning: The entry-level line, designed for affordability and compactness.
- Description: Features Meridian's refined audio architecture that offers balanced performance for smaller rooms with essential connectivity. Special Edition DSP7200
- Positioning: Mid-range reference series model aimed at enhanced performance for standard home environments.
- Description: Incorporates advanced digital signal processing with a more robust tuning approach that delivers a higher level of detail than the entry-level DSP5200. In contrast to the HC version and DSP9, provides improved clarity and sound stability without the extra power or extensive connectivity options available in the higher-tier products.
Special Edition DSP7200HC
- Positioning: Mid-to-high range reference series product geared toward larger rooms demanding extra output.
- Description: Uses high current amplification alongside advanced tuning algorithms to offer increased dynamic range and headroom compared to its non-HC sibling. When set against the DSP5200 and the standard DSP7200, provides a noticeable boost in power and performance, yet still sits below the ultra-high-end DSP9 in terms of overall sonic refinement.
DSP9
- Positioning: High-end reference series product intended for systems where demanding performance is key.
- Description: Uses cutting-edge design with enhanced signal processing that delivers a more precise and detailed sound stage than the DSP7200 variants. About the brand
Our interview with the brand
What are two key technological innovations or strong opinions that differ you from other brands?
Our ribbon tweeters, especially the coaxial versions used in our Coax and Master Line models, deliver exceptional resolution and spatial imaging. What’s particularly noteworthy is that we have been developing these tweeters entirely in-house for over 40 years – and we still manufacture them by hand at our facility in Horgen, Switzerland. The quality is, in our view, outstanding – not only acoustically, but also in terms of technical precision and minimal unit-to-unit variance.
Our aluminum enclosures, combined with internal damping and sandwich construction, ensure distortion-free performance – even at high volumes – and are a unique feature both acoustically and visually.
What's your approach to customer support?
We generally recommend that customers first reach out to their dealer or national distributor for any questions or issues. These partners are trained and authorized to assist quickly and effectively. In more complex cases – or when customers contact us directly – we are, of course, committed to providing personal and dedicated support.
Additionally, we regularly invite customers to visit our headquarters in Horgen. During these visits – which include a tour of our production and personal consultation – very close relationships have developed, and in some cases, even real friendships have formed. We take pride in maintaining close and reliable contact, even after the purchase.
What are your favorite tracks for showcasing the strength of your products?
- “Queen Mary” – Francine Thirteen: For dynamics and tight bass, excellent at high volume.
- “Liberty” – Anette Askvik: For atmospheric depth and spaciousness.
- “The Headless Horseman” – Bobby Bass: Great for vocals and evaluating seamless transitions between multi-way drivers.
What other products pair best with yours?
We experience excellent synergy with HiFi Rose electronics – both sonically and aesthetically. Setups with T+A or Cambridge Audio also pair beautifully with our speakers. And of course, there are no limits at the high end: just recently, I heard a large Burmester and McIntosh system driving our Coax 811 at a dealer – the result was absolutely stunning.
