What's unique about the brand

VinnieRossi is an American amplifier maker in Worcester, Massachusetts, named for its founder and designer. The Brama Series linestage uses Western Electric WE300B triodes. The Brama Integrated adds 400 watts per channel into 4 ohms, so one box can drive demanding loudspeakers. For separates, the Brama Monoblock Power Amplifier delivers 600 watts into 4 ohms from a custom switch-mode power supply. The newer CANTA Series includes an integrated that pairs a Class A 6SN7 triode linestage with a high-current MOSFET output stage.

Products overview

Every Brama model links through Brama Link, so the preamplifier and amplifiers work as one system. The Brama Preamplifier is the entry point and puts a WE300B triode linestage in front of any amplifier. The Brama Integrated adds 400 watts per channel into 4 ohms, so one box drives demanding loudspeakers. The Brama Monoblock Power Amplifier delivers 600 watts into 4 ohms and 1200 into 2 ohms, enough current for the hardest speakers.

  • Start here. A listener who already owns a power amplifier and wants a new front end takes the Brama Preamplifier, which remembers gain and balance for each source.
  • Sweet spot. The Brama Integrated suits a buyer who wants one box with a preamp stage and 400 watts per channel into 4 ohms, stable into 2 ohm loads, without buying a separate amplifier.
  • All in. The Brama Monoblock Power Amplifier is priced well above the Integrated and extends its MOSFET design to three devices per rail, so hard to drive speakers keep control at higher levels with 600 watts into 4 ohms.

About the brand

Dan D'Agostino Master Audio Systems is an American amplifier company, founded in 2011. Dan D'Agostino had started Krell in 1980, and his team now hand-builds every product in Cave Creek, Arizona. The amplifiers are known for lacquered copper heatsinks with venturi tunnels and Breguet-style dials, and Dan D'Agostino wants solid-state sound as ear-friendly as the best tube amplifiers. Progression is the more accessible series, with Momentum above it and Relentless at the top. The Progression Integrated takes an optional streaming module and phono stage, so streaming and a turntable need no extra boxes.

About the brand

Pilium is a Greek maker of amplifiers and preamplifiers, founded in 2014 by longtime audiophiles. Everything is hand-built and finished with what the company calls a bare-voicing approach. The Master Divine Line preamplifier uses a quad-mono, three-chassis layout and a volume control with only one resistor in the signal path. The Divine and Master Divine lines include mono and stereo power amplifiers rated at 300 to 450 watts into 8 ohms. In the Divine Line, the Leonidas is a one-box integrated amplifier, while the Ares preamplifier suits buyers building separates.

About the brand

darTZeel is a Swiss amplifier maker built on the ideas of designer Hervé Delétraz, who listens first and measures afterwards. Its amplifiers keep the signal path short, choosing inputs without switches or relays and setting volume with a contactless optical control. The NHB-108 Model Two revisits the amplifier where the brand began and has no global negative feedback. Red casework with gold front panels marks the whole range. Owners who pair the NHB-18NS preamplifier with a darTZeel power amplifier can join them over the brand's 50-ohm BNC link, which matches impedance between the two.

About the brand

soulution is a Swiss maker of amplifiers, preamplifiers, DACs and phono stages, created by audio enthusiasts Cyrill Hammer and Roland Manz. Its circuits are built for very high speed, which lets them use heavy local negative feedback to reduce distortion and phase errors. Switch-mode power supplies keep the voltage stable under load. The DACs use Zero-Phase technology to reduce timing errors. The 760 DAC has digital volume control, so it can feed a power amplifier directly. Reviewers describe a natural sound with a three-dimensional soundstage they compare to tubes.

About the brand

Block Audio is a Czech amplifier maker whose preamplifiers run on batteries, which keeps the audio circuits isolated from AC power. Its battery preamplifier uses a dual-mono layout across two chassis, with a separate battery bank for each channel and a short signal path. The matching monoblock power amplifiers are Class-A designs in aluminum chassis with a very high damping factor for tight control of the speakers. Bought together, the preamplifier and monoblocks work as one system, with the preamp monitoring the amplifiers' temperature and setting their operating modes.

About the brand

CH Precision is a Swiss maker of amplifiers, DACs and disc players, founded by Florian Cossy. Its products are modular, so owners configure each unit with option modules and can upgrade it later without replacing the whole component. Its amplifiers use ExactBias circuitry and a feedback ratio the owner can adjust to suit the speakers. Each 10 Series model, such as the M10 and L10, puts its power supply in a separate chassis, and the 1 Series includes the I1 integrated amplifier. The L1 is on our Best Preamplifiers list.
