What's unique about the brand

Lamm Industries is known for its hybrid amplifiers that combine solid-state and tube technologies, with a distinctive approach of using vacuum tube rectification in their power supplies to minimize noise. The brand designs their circuits based on psychoacoustics (how humans naturally perceive sound) and operates their amplifiers in pure Class A mode, using military-grade components and rigorous testing procedures to ensure reliability.

What reviewers are saying

We read all the reviews. Here's what reviewers feel most strongly about:

  • LAMM amplifiers distinguish themselves with a natural and organic sound, reminiscent of live performances, achieving tonal accuracy and proper spectral balance that minimizes listener fatigue.
  • The brand prioritizes long-term owner satisfaction by designing products that seamlessly integrate into high-end systems, ensuring lasting enjoyment and minimal need for frequent upgrades.
  • LAMM products are meticulously handcrafted, using top-quality, tested components and often incorporating unique design elements like vibration-absorbing transformer encapsulation, reflecting a no-compromise approach.

Our favorite reviewer quotes:

  • "Micro dynamics, translated into the sum of smallest nuances of micro delays, reverberations and focus points comes vividly painted only at this degree of analog high-tech. This is what makes the vinyl listening utmost involving and what creates an emotional packed listening journey of a higher degree." (https://acoustic-precision.fr/index.php/lamm-lp1-signature)
  • "What makes the ML2.2 different from other amplifiers— tubed or solid-state, single-ended or push-pull—is a sense of palpable realism and the feeling that music is being brought to life contemporaneously. The ML2.2 doesn't sound like just a great tubed amplifier, only a little better; it provides a fundamentally different listening experience." (https://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/lamm-ml22-single-ended-triode-amplifier)
  • "In the mids, no solid-state amp I've heard can touch the M1.2 Reference, whose portrayal of voice is much of the reason why Lamm electronics are called "natural" and "organic" in the first place. There is a sense of fidelity and beauty, a golden transparency, to the way the M1.2 Reference amps portray the midrange, and while the tubed Lamm monoblocks raise this a notch, no one who is used to the often threadbare, even bleached, mids of many competing amplifiers will think the M1.2 Reference amps anything less than superlative." (https://www.soundstagenetwork.com/revequip/lammm12followup.htm)
  • "The LL2.1's expressive flow, stalwart bass, and superb dynamics, combined with a wonderful sense of acoustic presence and harmonic rightness, made me stop thinking about componentry, and drew me in for many a joyful night of musical satisfaction. Its virtue is its guileless blending of these attributes into a unified whole." (https://www.soundstagenetwork.com/equipment/lammll21deluxe.htm)

Its hybrid design with a vacuum triode in the second stage provides a unique sound signature compared to the more powerful M2.2, known for its transparency and three-dimensional soundstage.

M2.2

  • Positioning: The most powerful amplifier in LAMM's hybrid and solid-state lineup.
  • Description: Features high-speed MOS-FET transistors and operates in a highly biased A/AB mode, delivering 220 Watts into 8 and 4 Ohms, which is more powerful compared to the M1.2 Reference's 110 Watts. Known for its transparency and ability to recreate a three-dimensional soundstage.

ML2.2

  • Positioning: A new generation single-ended tube amplifier, continuing the legacy of the ML2 series.
  • Description: Features high current low impedance power vacuum tube triodes. Offers a seamless fusion of the ML2.1 and ML3 Signature, providing a sound closer to the ML3 Signature but at a more accessible price point.

About the brand

VinylSavor stands out for its unique use of transformer coupling and transformer volume control in preamps, along with vacuum tube rectified high voltage supplies and low impedance circuits. The brand's equipment, personally built and tested by Thomas Mayer, is engineered with custom-made transformers and multiple chokes for excellent power supply performance, eliminating the need for expensive power conditioners or exotic cables.

Our interview with the brand

What are two key technological innovations or strong opinions that differ you from other brands?

Fully transformer coupled designs. The use of directly heated triodes not only as output tube but also as drive rand preamp tube. 600 Ohm LCR RIAA EQ in phono stages. Custom triodes for the Intrepid series (Thomas Mayer ONE, TWO and THREE). Possibility to customise each product to specific needs.

What's your approach to customer support?

I sell directly to end customers. I used to have very few resellers but due to the steep increase of production and material costs I exclusive do direct sales now to avoid price increases of the products which would otherwise be necessary. My goal is that every customer is happy and I am always available for any questions even years after the sale. When necessary I do repairs or assist in set up at the customer site.

What are your favorite tracks for showcasing the strength of your products?

I don’t have any favourite tracks, but use whatever I am in the mood for. Equipment should not be designed to work with specific music. People should use music they like for testing

What other products pair best with yours?

Admire Audio speakers.
