What's unique about the brand

PSI Audio is a Swiss hifi brand that builds all their speakers and acoustic devices without using DSP, focusing instead on pure analog technology to deliver accurate sound reproduction. Their standout product is the AVAA C20, a revolutionary active bass trap that eliminates low-frequency noise by creating a "black hole" effect for resonant frequencies, requiring much less space than traditional acoustic treatments while being effective across diverse environments from recording studios to subway stations.

What reviewers are saying

We read all the reviews. Here's what reviewers feel most strongly about:

  • PSI Audio's speaker designs are hand-crafted in Switzerland, combining traditional techniques with modern technology.
  • They developed proprietary technologies like Adaptive Output Impedance (AOI) and Compensated Phase Response (CPR) to ensure accurate transient reproduction and phase coherence, resulting in a highly detailed and truthful sound.
  • The brand maintains a consistent voicing across its entire product line, ensuring that any model can be seamlessly integrated into a monitoring setup.
  • PSI Audio utilizes a unique Class G amplifier topology in many of their models, providing the linearity of Class A/B with the efficiency of Class D amplifiers, resulting in powerful and controlled sound reproduction.

Our favorite reviewer quotes:

  • "Perhaps the most impressive area of performance, though, is the bottom end, which sounds much more like it's coming from a sealed monitor than a ported one. Clearly, the cabinet is very well designed, with perfectly optimised damping, and the amplifiers' AOI system must help in exerting near-perfect control of the bass driver." (https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/psi-audio-a14-m-studio)
  • "Tonally, these speakers are extremely neutral and accurate — voiced along the lines of classic British monitors from ATC, PMC and Harbeth — and completely free from the upper mid‑range presence hype that is so often used to convey a (false) impression of detail and resolution. Instead, these speakers provide real detail and superb resolution across the bandwidth, and do so without any sense of fatigue even after hours of critical listening." (https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/psi-audio-a17m-a21m)
  • "To best describe what I heard on the A17-M, I will go with "crystal-clear and ultra-detailed." Whether listening to 24-bit and DSD high-resolution albums for pleasure, or on my own client work, the A17-M help me zero in on details that I had never heard before." (https://www.recordingmag.com/resources/featured-reviews/psi-audio-a17-m)
  • "The A 14M system throws up a huge soundstage, bigger than most speakers, while also maintaining the proper spatial relationships between elements in the mix. Only the Joseph Audio Pulsar produced an equally large soundstage." (https://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/psi-audio-a-14m-active-powered-loudspeaker-tas-212)

Our interview with the brand

What are two key technological innovations or strong opinions that differ you from other brands?

Air Motion Transformers

ADAM Audio has been refining Air Motion Transformer technology for more than 25 years, and we employ it in every tweeter we manufacture. This sustained focus has led to a series of innovations which trickle down to every series in our portfolio. We have an expert team in Berlin that hand-folds these tweeters, and they are subject to rigorous QA before they are fitted to the loudspeakers.

Industrial Design

ADAM Audio loudspeakers have a strong and unique design language that stems from Berlin and the design team here. Every choice centers around acoustic performance, but the beveled edges, bespoke waveguides, and rounded ports combine to form striking products. For decades, the loudspeakers have been the focal point of studios worldwide, and in recent years they have been catching eyes in home audio systems.

What's your approach to customer support?

Our Berlin-based customer support team handles hundreds of queries each month, ranging from pre-sales questions, troubleshooting and best practices, to repairs. They pride themselves on their response and success rate, and our customer feedback is overwhelmingly positive. ADAM Audio offers an industry-leading warranty of up to 5 years, and beyond that, our service team is always happy to repair products when possible. We have a wonderful dealer and distributor network who will always be happy to help if they can.
